The 2022 Draft has had major moments for the budding athletes in the NFL. Every franchise has its way of revealing the mega announcement to the athlete. Normally, it’s a President/GM Jerry Jones’ celebratory phone call that makes freshly picked Dallas Cowboys euphoric. But it was a pre-draft inquiry by none other than quarterback Dak Prescott for the newly drafted WR, Jalen Tolbert.

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t been making any gigantic splash trades or gains except Amari Cooper. However, the fans have been waiting for any news splash this year. As they head into the draft, they address a few of their problems. Most notably, the wide receiver position. But did quarterback Dak Prescott have the final say in the Cowboys’ new induction?

He mentions, “I answered, and he was like Jalen, and I was like, ‘What’s up?’ And he’s like, ‘This is Dak Prescott. How are you doing? For a minute it was like a surreal moment because I never knew quarterbacks would call prospects, but it was an awesome, great experience.”

According to Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken, Tolbert spoke with Prescott for around 20 minutes, “and I think we immediately vibed on the phone, connected right there.”

They touched on Jalen’s prior quarterback connections, according to the WR. They also discussed his abilities on or off the court. Dak questioned him whether he could put Tolbert at X on 3×1 by himself or if he could go between CeeDee and Michael. Everything is there. They were just talking about the gameplay.

On Friday evening, the Dallas Cowboys chose the South Alabama standout as a No. 88 overall draft pick in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, just two days after the receiver heard an unusual call from his quarterback, Dak Prescott.

The phone call reflects more of the QB building relationships with future prospects. As everyone knows that Jerry Jones has the final say in the ‘good‘ prospects, this would probably be the stepping stone in building the team. Prescott and his new 6-3, 190-pound target from South Alabama are expected to have more on-field interactions.

After moving Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns and dropping Cedrick Wilson to the Miami Dolphins in free agency, the Cowboys needed a wideout. Gallup inked a five-year contract extension with the organization, but he will probably miss a few contests after damaging his ACL in his left knee. The Cowboys signed free agent James Washington, but they still needed extra support.
