Former dynamic outside linebacker, DeMarcus Ware was snagged in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He lit up the scene for a golden nine seasons, donning the Cowboys‘ star proudly. Then, in 2013, he joined the Broncos, racking up another three seasons under his belt. He even powered through to Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos. But guess what? He chose to hang up his boots back where it all started, signing a one-day contract with Dallas to retire a Cowboy in 2017.
And if that ain’t enough, this 41-year-old football wizard just this month, got the nod to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But hold on, Wednesday, August 23, 2023, there was another surprise touchdown waiting for him. Jerry Jones, the big cheese and owner of the Cowboys, threw a curveball. He made it official: DeMarcus Ware’s name is gonna be shining bright at AT&T Stadium, right up there with the other legendary Cowboys.

Jerry Jones’ magical announcement
GM Jerry Jones, the head honcho of the Cowboys, pulled another rabbit out of the hat. Get this, DeMarcus Ware, the man who’s got more sacks than a grocery store, is getting his ticket punched for the Ring of Honor later this season.
The curtain went up at Ford Center during a Season Kickoff, where Ware himself, hosted the show. And then, surprisingly Jones dropped the bomb, “You guys understand how seriously I take this Ring of Honor,” Dallas owner Jones said. “It’s not cavalier thing for me, at all. I recognize the fact it’s a committee of one that makes this happen.”

HOF-er Ware admitted Jones got him twice now. First, with the Pro Football Hall of Fame surprise, and now, for giving the keys to his Hall of Fame. “This is the second time he’s surprised me,” Jones chimed in. “The first time when you told me I was going into the (Pro Football) Hall of Fame. And secondly, for me getting into your Hall of Fame.”
Although, the Cowboys haven’t dialed in the exact date for the halftime ceremony bash. But the word on the street is, it’s gonna be before the showdown with Seattle on November 30.

DeMarcus Ware’s unreal defensive prowess knocks
In the NFL, the legends are built on their stats, and that’s exactly what defines DeMarcus Ware’s incredible career. He racked up some impressive numbers- 654 tackles, 138.5 sacks, and 35 forced fumbles. But what really set him apart was his astounding 117.0 sacks, a record that earned him the coveted title of the Cowboys’ all-time sack leader.
On looking at the history of defensive sacks in the NFL, Bruce Smith takes the top spot as the leader. He’s a former defensive end who left his mark with a 200.0 number of sacks. And, Ware holds a solid eighth position in the NFL history books for his impressive sack record.

Over his journey in the NFL, reportedly Ware took home $90 million in salary alone, which reflects the sheer magnitude of his impact on the game.
