The month of July came with exciting new releases for both cinema-goers and home viewers. Amidst the recent flurry of thrilling movie releases, the anticipation only continues to build with ‘Oppenheimer’, which is set to release in theaters on Friday. Helmed by an acclaimed and exceptionally talented director, Christopher Nolan, the movie features the story of the American theoretical physicist, who is also known as the “father of atomic bombs”. Despite all the hype and eager anticipation, it is the Kansas City ChiefsPatrick Mahomes, who steals the spotlight with the release of his very own TV show.

Just a week prior to the release of Oppenheimer, the 8-episode docu-series graced everyone’s screens in the country. Highlighting the heartwarming story of the league’s reigning MVP, along with other quarterbacks, the show has been fairly successful. But how far does it come, when compared to Nolan’s highly anticipated release?

The film maestro, Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer‘, already faced the same release date with yet another eagerly awaited movie, ‘Barbie’, with the possibility of facing challenges. However, the twist comes from another direction, sending shockwaves throughout the film industry. As it turns out, a simple docu-series is what it took to capture the audience. With its release on Netflix on 12th July, it has surpassed several other TV shows to become one of the most talked docu-series today. Even a day prior to the release of both Barbie and Oppenheimer, Mahomes’ show sits at the top of the list in the country.

Produced by Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, the 384-minute series secured the highest rank, right after its release, overshadowing ‘Oppenheimer’. Starring Cillian Murphy, the distinguished protagonist from the hit series, “Peaky Blinders” is now under the shadows of the docu-series. ‘Quarterback’ remains on the top for the past week, even on the eve of big-time releases.

With the show’s fair share of positive reviews, and clinching the top spot, several reports suggest that the docu-series has already been renewed for a second season. Though however popular the series may be, it is no contender to Nolan’s cinematic genius but has surely carved itself a place in the Netflix docu-series universe.

Who could be starting the next season?

The 8-episode series featured not only the 2X MVP but also Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota. There were already speculations on why the football GOAT, Tom Brady, was missing from the show, despite it being titled ‘Quarterback’. However, as the show is scheduled for renewal, it might change in the near future. Brady isn’t the only prospect, as top-tier WB like Jalen Hurts, Aaron Rodgers, and Josh Allen were also brought up by fans for the next season.
