Four Detroit Lions players were suspended by the NFL for betting on non-NFL events from an NFL facility. The exact sport they were betting on isn’t known yet, but the offense was deemed punishable by the league. Among the players banned, was a 22-year-old wide receiver who maintains that he wasn’t aware.

Jameson Williams was handed a six-game suspension by the NFL for violating the NFL’s gambling policy. Setbacks have been following Williams ever since his entrance into the NFL, missing out first 11 games of his rookie season due to a torn ACL. And now the 22-year-old must wait till Week 7 of the 2023 season to return to the big stage. Since the suspension, the young phenom has been on a road to redemption, and his recent comments reek of brighter days ahead.
“It was pretty much like consequences was handed to me. I just look forward to the better days, the happy days,” expressed Williams.
The wide receiver maintained that he was blindsided by the NFL rules and wasn’t aware of the specifics, “I didn’t know things like this was coming, but it took me some time, and I just thought about the better days and moving forward.”
Speaking on the lesson learned, Williamson shared, “Just make the right decisions, It was something that I wasn’t aware of, but it caught me and it was just make the right decisions.”
Williams maintained that he is not a gambler but a football player, and he wasn’t aware of the consequences that would follow. The 22-year-old claims to not have been taken aback by the NFL’s decision but refused to review it. Despite the suspension, Williams appears to have made his peace with the NFL’s decision and is trying his hardest to look on the brighter side of things. Williams further shared that he is eagerly waiting for Week 7 to clear the stain on his reputation.
