The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick faced severe backlash after stepping out of the league in 2017. Although few people supported his cause, some of them mocked him during that year’s Halloween. Two people came under the fire for impersonating Kaepernick, a police officer and a college student who later apologized for their actions.

Surprisingly, the following year, comedian Whitney Cummings came forward to make a strange request surrounding Kaepernick at Halloween.
White people: I’m literally begging you not to go as Colin Kaepernick for Halloween.
— Whitney Cummings (@WhitneyCummings) October 3, 2018
Cummings wrote it on Twitter just a year after the incident. A South Dakota student was the first person to come under the radar after he tried to resemble the athlete-turned-activist in 2017. He colored his face wearing a wig and knelt, hanging a signboard that read: ”will stand for money”. This action instantly caught an array of harsh criticisms.
Ultimately, the student apologized for what he had done publicly, saying, “I wholeheartedly apologize as I feel horrible about my ignorance and offending many people I respect.” he said.
Similarly, a police officer working for the University of Nevada was slammed for the costume. He used a long prosthetic nose, donning a black-haired wig and a red shirt with ’49ers’ written on it. Similar to Paulson, he hung a signboard around his neck that read, ”Will stand for food.”
Five years down the line, the Niners QB is back into the business. However, none of the teams have approached him with an official contract. One reason might be the fear that if they sign Kaepernick, it might affect their business and popularity.
Colin Kaepernick claims that his entry will boost the NFL business
The 34-year-old Nevada alumnus had to face a series of setbacks in the form of excuses while trying to get back onto the field. If business was the issue for franchises, Kaepernick explains that his inclusion will help teams exponentially elevate their ventures.

“When I first took a knee, my jersey went to No. 1 (in sales). When I did the deal with Nike, their value increased by six billion dollars. Six billion, with a B.” he said in an interview. “So if you’re talking about the business side, it shows beneficial. If you’re talking about the playing side, come in, let me compete. You can evaluate me from there.” he added.
