Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick made the most of his time off the field by spending his time working as a social activist. The former Super Bowl finalist has not been in the NFL since the 2016 season and used his platform for a noble cause. In 2017, Somalia was facing an acute food shortage due to a deepening drought, and Kaepernick was determined to help.

The former Niners QB was involved with the “Turkish Airlines Help Somalia” movement. It was an initiative that was looking to provide food, water, and aid to the struggling Somali population.
The country, with a population of 14.6 million Somalis, was experiencing an unprecedented famine reportedly, affecting more than 6 million citizens.

Kaepernick was joining a movement that received a lot of support since its conception by French entrepreneur Jerome Jarre. Even Hollywood actor Ben Stiller was joining the former Niners QB in the efforts to help those in need. The work from Kaepernick and his fellow companions led to the Turkish Airlines granting an airplane. It was able to send 60 tonnes of supplies to the country.
Colin Kaepernick always has held firm to his beliefs
It was the coming together of individuals from different walks of life. They came together to help a country in desperate need of support. Kaepernick has been someone who has held firm to his beliefs despite facing opposition over the years. It translates to his NFL career, which despite facing multiple challenges, has received minor encouraging signs over the years.

Recently, Kaepernick got a chance to boost his odds. He got the opportunity to work out with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Though he remains to wait for a possible contract offer from the team, the coaching staff describes his showing as positive.
The former 49ers’ QB has remained open while using his fame for the right things over the years. Even if Kaepernick fails to get a backup NFL QB stint in 2022, his work off the field will remain. The relief he provided in Somalia will remain fresh in their memories.
