This was a rough season for the Cleveland Browns star quarterback Baker Mayfield. Even after picking up several injuries, the quarterback still went on and fought till the very end. Now, as the playoff contention race is officially over for the Cleveland Browns, the quarterback can think about getting his shoulder injury fixed.

The Browns’ Week 6 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals proved to be a big upset for Baker Mayfield. As during the game, the quarterback reportedly injured his left shoulder. But he has been playing through his injury like a genuine leader. And now as the Browns have tipped off from the playoff race, Mayfield may drop off from the season finale and opt for a surgery to fix his ailment.

“I am going to have surgery,” Mayfield said. “I am going to get this shoulder fixed and be able to come back next [season] at 100%. That’s been decided. When it’s happening has not been decided. I’ll have an answer [this] week.”

Mayfield has been one of the toughest quarterbacks of this season. As he has played through his injuries and has missed only two games in the first 16 games of the season. Mayfield dropped out of the Week 7 matchup because of the setback and he also missed his Week 15 game for being listed on the COVID list.

Mayfield aims higher for the 2022 season

“I’m an extremely competitive guy,” Mayfield said. “Now it’s time for me to start looking at what’s in the best interest of me and my health… I’ve continued to lay it out on the line and I haven’t been healthy. I tried to fight for our guys. Right now, I’m pretty beat up. There is no way around it. I gave it everything I had.”

The quarterback has a pretty straightforward vision. He wishes to work on his weakness and get back again next season even stronger. The No. 1 overall pick has completed 60.5% of his throws for 3,010 yards, scoring 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 14 starts this season.
