For Joe Burrow, 2020 was a mixed bag. Coming into the league as the first overall pick, expectations were sky-high from the Heisman winning LSU quarterback.

Seen as the man to transform the Bengals franchise, Burrow got off to an impressive start registering over 2,600 passing yards through his first 10 games. But just as Joe Burrow looked to find his footing, disaster struck.

In the Week 11 game against the Washington Football Team, Burrow suffered a devastating left knee injury that left him with a torn ACL and MCL. Burrow went on to miss the rest of the season as the Bengals once again failed to make the playoffs.

But after surgery and months of rehab, Burrow is back. And he’s looking as sharp as ever. In fact, one Bengals player couldn’t help but draw parallels between Burrow and future first-ballot Hall of Famer Tom Brady.

“When I’m watching his confidence when he has a lot of moving pieces going on… You can tell sometimes he has a big toolbox of plays to go where he notices a coverage early, he can check the play and get them into favorable matchups. He does that really well,” said Allen.

In fact, some of Burrow’s plays even reminds Allen of star quarterbacks such as Matt Ryan and Tom Brady.

“The balls he throws sometimes to the middle of the field, he’s got a good rope on it. There aren’t too many quarterbacks that can lift the ball up and make it drop. Some of them just keep it on the same trajectory. He actually knows how to switch it up… Matt is really good at it. You’ll see Tom Brady do it, too.”
