The Pittsburgh Steelers will be missing their key asset on Sunday, facing the undefeated Eagles in Week 8. The veteran placekicker Chris Boswell has been downgraded by the management, due to a groin injury. However, one of the concerning reasons is to find a substitute heading into a crucial game.

The Jalen Hurts-led side is coming off a bye week, charged as the only undefeated team in the 2022 season. But the Steelers have a lot to worry about, especially because of their poor record of 2-5 after Week 7. It has now forced them to score wins if they wish to enter the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Kenny Pickett and Mitchell Trubisky will definitely miss the veteran, who also happens to be the fifth most accurate placekicker in NFL history. He was placed on the injured list after Friday’s practice session as questionable.

Although fans expected him to return, his injury now seems to be a matter of concern in the upcoming weeks. Boswell is currently 12-of-16 on field goal attempts, and 9-of-9 on extra point attempts this season. The 31-year-old has played a significant role so far, by strengthening the offensive unit, but was struggling to score touchdowns in the last few games.
While this issue is on the table, there hasn’t been any official announcement from the team management to replace the kicker. However, they have made some arrangements to control the situation. According to ESPN, the Steelers have signed free agent Nick Sciba and elevated him to the active roster.
The Wake Forest product has a splendid college record connecting 80 of 89 field goals and a senior year 23 completion of 25 attempts. The 22-year-old also holds the NCAA record for consecutive goals, making him one of the top prospects as a rookie. Moreover, the youngster has also experienced the Steelers culture by spending some time in the training sessions this year.

They only need someone to kick off to start the game. No touchdowns or field goals I’m afraid. 😂
