Rob Gronkowski has been the number-one pick as far as tight ends are concerned. The NFL legend achieved everything there is to achieve with the New England Patriots. But another name has been floating around in the GOAT TE conversation for some time now. And that name is Travis Kelce.

With another record-setting display against the Los Angeles Chargers, Kelce has surpassed a record held by Gronkowski. And with it, maybe started dethroning him as the best TE in NFL history.

Another show by Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce came into the Week 11 clash with the Chargers tied with Rob Gronkowski for the most 100-yard games as a TE in the NFL. And Kelce not only scored the winning touchdown in the last minute for a Kansas City Chiefs victory, but he also surpassed Gronk’s 100-yard games record. He now has 33 100-yard games while Gronkowski retired with 32 such games.

The touchdown was also Kelce’s eleventh in the league this season, the highest this season after 11 game weeks.

Kelce caught six receptions in the game against the Chargers for a total of 115 yards. He also scored all three touchdowns for the Chiefs in that game.

Kelce surpassing Gronk’s record does not in any way reduce his greatness as a TE in the league. But one thing is for sure, Gronkowski will never be alone whenever the conversation about the GOAT in that position comes up.

Solid display against the reigning Super Bowl champions

Travis Kelce backed up his performance against the Chargers with another decent display against the Los Angeles Rams. He did not have a 100-yard game like the one in Los Angeles and nor did he score all the touchdowns in the game. But he doesn’t need to in every game. He put on a shift as the Chiefs breezed past the Rams in the Week 12 clash.

Kelce caught four receptions in the game for a total of 57 yards. He also scored one touchdown, taking his already league-leading figure to 12. The Chiefs defeated the Rams 26-10, increasing their winning streak to five games.

The Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes also had a solid game with 320 passing yards and one touchdown. Kicker Harrison Butker contributed a total of 14 points through four field goal conversions.

The Chiefs are top of the AFC West divisional table with a 9-2 overall record after 12 game weeks. Looks like the Chiefs are in for a deep playoff run at least, if not going all the way to lifting the Vince Lombardi trophy.
