Mahomes signed a record-breaking, insane contract with the Chiefs in July 2020. The Super Bowl champion and the MVP will remain with the Kansas City Chiefs until 2031. As a matter of fact, the 10-year contract is an extension to his ongoing agreement and will commence with the season of 2022.

There is a $503 million cost spread over 12 years for the 10-year extension. The deal is actually a $450 million contract, a $10 million signing bonus, $141,481,905 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $45 million.
The incentives in the NFL are not guaranteed and are dependent on the players and teams. Furthermore, the base contract is also not guaranteed due to injury clauses. The good news is that Mahomes’ $140 million contract is guaranteed, and no injury clause.

The Mahomes deal is also interesting because it contains some incentives. From the 2022 season on, Mahomes will earn $1.25 million if the Chiefs win the AFC Championship. Additionally, Mahomes will earn another $1.25 million if he wins the MVP award.
