The Chiefs improved their season record to 11-3 following a thrilling encounter against the Houston Texans this Week. The game escalated towards the extra time, with the Chiefs’ defense recovering a fumble and handing the ball over to Mahomes again, becoming the turning point.
The offense then progressed towards a touchdown, eventually bagging a great win. All these dramatic events convinced Andy Reid to make his pick for the MVP title, and that was none other than Mahomes itself.
“You saw Pat and what he did. I mean, he took care of business today,” Reid said in his press conference. “He went back to work and worked on it. I mean, you’re talking about a guy that, if he’s not the MVP in the league, I’m not sure what’s wrong with them.”
“But he cleaned it up and came out, and we have almost 500 yards of offense, minus 100 penalties. That’s a pretty spectacular day there. But that’s what he did.” he added.
Indeed, Mahomes had been spectacular, finishing 36-of-41 passing for 336 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Moreover, he rushed for a 5-yard touchdown and carried five times for a total of 33 yards. Hence it was an overall performance from the quarterback
Along with Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen are some of the contenders for the title, but the Chiefs passer outplays each one of them in one way or another. Out of 14 games so far, Mahomes recorded 35 touchdowns and 4,496 passing yards. With an incredible completion percentage of 67.4 percent, the gunslinger thrives in his QB rating of 105.0.

“You have to celebrate — I mean, we still won the AFC West, and you have to enjoy that. I told the guys to do that, enjoy it for like the plane ride home and tonight, but we got a short week this next week so enjoy it, and we’ll get right back to it.” Mahomes told the reporters. However, he also admitted to having penalties, interceptions, and fumbles but in the end, it’s all about victory.
