The Chicago Bears are a franchise that has historically struggled at the quarterback position. The team did reportedly go all out to land Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson for next season. But the Seahawks weren’t willing to let go.

This prompted the Bears to sign Andy Dalton in free agency. The franchise now has two veterans onboard, with Dalton set to be accompanied by 2018 Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles.

Both quarterbacks are capable starters. But neither feel like a long-term solution to the Chicago Bears‘ QB woes. To do that, the Bears will need to take a different path. One that involves them yet again diving into the draft for a rookie QB.

And going by Head Coach Matt Nagy’s recent comments, the franchise might just do that in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Chicago Bears looking to draft another QB?

The 2021 NFL Draft class has some excellent talents up for grabs. But one particular position is occupying much of the limelight.

The quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft all have high ceilings. Talents like Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones and Trey Lance are all up for grabs.

And the Chicago Bears are keeping a close eye on all of them. During a recent press conference, Nagy talked about how it’s been different this season to evaluate QB prospects as there’s no combine.

Attending Pro Days of a bunch of the mentioned QBs earlier though, Nagy sounded optimistic ahead of the evaluation process.

“As everybody knows, we’ve been to a few pro days with some of these quarterbacks and it definitely helps… Ryan (Pace) and I are super excited about going through that evaluation process together and how we do it,” said Nagy.

“It’s a challenge, but we look forward to it. There are a lot of good quarterbacks in this draft class,” he added.

But to land Jones or any of the other top QB prospects, the franchise will definitely have to trade and move up the draft ladder. The Bears were ready to do that for Russell Wilson. But will they do that for a rookie?
