Khalil Mack to miss rest of the season

Khalil Mack suffered the injury to his left foot in the Week 3 game against the Cleveland Browns. But Mack continued playing several games with the hurt foot. Eventually, the pain caught up with him as he was pulled out of the past two Bears fixtures against the San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Out of the seven games Mack played, he got six stacks. Bears assumed that the bye week would be enough time for Mack’s foot to heal, but that was not the case. He missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Bears hoped that Khalil Mack would lead the defense this season. Being the heart of the Defence, Khalil always delivered when his team needed him. After suffering the unfortunate foot injury, it is the first time that he is missing any games with Chicago. Khalil joined the Chicago Bears on a trade in 2018. Sadly, Mack will miss the remaining eight games of the season as well.

On Friday, Matt Nagy announced Khalil will move to injury reserves. He will get season-ending surgery on his left foot next week. The injury began at the toe. It would have caused more damage if Mack kept on playing. The foot was already causing a lot of pain and discomfort to the linebacker.

“I just know the big picture for him and for us is that he fought like hell to try to get through that pain that you have,” said the Bears coach Matt Nagy. “There’s the medical side of it. It’s one thing to play through pain. It’s another thing to make it worse.”

Mack is notorious for playing despite being injured. It is not the first time he has done that. He was listed as questionable ten times during the last season. He suffered injuries to his ankles, knees, shoulders, and two times to the back. Despite the pain, Khalil started every game for the Bears and played 83 percent of the defensive snaps.
