On Sunday, the owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, hinted that they might be changing things up with the platform. He said, ‘We’ll say goodbye to the Twitter brand and eventually all the birds.’ The exact Tweet was: “And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.”

Just two minutes later, CEO Musk tweeted again, saying that if someone creates a cool logo (an X logo), they’ll launch it worldwide the next day. “If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make go live worldwide tomorrow.”

Time to say goodbye to Twitter as we know it?

Today, Elon Musk did something interesting on Twitter. He changed his profile picture to an X logo, and he also changed the official Twitter account name (which has been on Twitter since February 2007) to just the letter X with the logo.

A little while ago, Elon Musk posted a photo with a caption saying, “Our headquarters tonight.” The picture showed his headquarters, and there was a big reflection of the X logo on the building. Elon Musk sealed a $44 billion deal last year, making Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) private and taking ownership of the influential social media platform. He swiftly ousted top executives, expressing joy with a tweet, “The bird is freed.”  Ever since Elon Musk took over Twitter, things have not been the same at the bird app. With the proposed rebranding, it is safe to assume that soon the Twitter we knew and loved will not be the same again,  for better or worse. And it seems that is exactly what McAfee was paying homage to.
