Carson Wentz has had a rocky journey ever since the injury rendered him out of the game, back in Philly in 2017. Last year, things seemed to have taken a turn for the better. He was playing with the Indianapolis Colts.

But the journey in Indy could not last long. The Colts have decided to trade Wentz to the Washington Commanders. Carson Wentz has put out a long sentimental post on social media thanking the Colts organization and saying goodbye to the Colts nation. It seems, even in the short time they were there, Colts and his family were starting to get involved with the community.

Some of the fans even say that maybe the move came too soon. And given a chance, Wentz could have gotten the team over the hump. But the management has business to keep in mind, and next year if Wentz would’ve failed no other team would’ve picked up that contract then.

And so it seemed like the perfect fit. Not just on paper, it even played out well on the field. Until it didn’t. It was the last two games of the regular season. Carson Wentz and the Colts had to win any one of them to make it to the playoffs. The last game was against the team with the first pick overall, in this year’s draft. For two years in a row now they’ll be picking first.

So maybe the team management did not appreciate that the QB fell short. Maybe that was exactly why they had decided to take on Wentz’s big-ticket contract. And failing in the first year itself, made them take quick decisions in the off-season.

Whether they will pat themselves on the back in the future, or cry over spilled milk, only the future will tell. Although, in the case of Carson Wentz, it seems like he is much more than just a football player. And even if the millions of things that have to come together so that a team would succeed, do not come together, he would still be remembered for much more than just football.
