

Recently, Forbes unveiled their list of richest athletes of 2020. Owing to the coronavirus pandemic and its financial ramifications, a lot of salaries and endorsements took a massive hit. However, Carson Wentz and Russell Wilson faced contrasting financial effects of the crisis.
As it turns out, around 41 new names entered the list owing to the impact of reduced salaries. As it turns out, Carson Wentz became the highest-ranked newcomer on the Forbes Richest list. The Philadelphia Eagles player penned a four-year, $128 million deal back in June 2019. Earlier this year, he cashed in around $54 million in bonuses in the first 12 months of his contract.

Meanwhile, the situation is the opposite for Russell Wilson
Unfortunately, Seattle Seahawks quarterback, Russell Wilson could not say the same. In fact, the 31-year old witnessed an abyss-like drop down the Forbes list from a lofty No. 6 in 2019. At that time, he earned a hefty $80 million, courtesy a blockbuster deal which included a $57.5 million bonus. Unfortunately, the QB has not even broken into the top 100 in the 2020 list.

This just goes to show how badly the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting everyone. Admittedly, the effect is not physical, like someone contracting the virus. Instead, a number of businesses and public events have had to be shut down or postponed, thus causing a global economic disaster.
