Teddy Bridgewater completed his dream move to Carolina Panthers in 2020. The former Minnesota Vikings man signed a 3-year contract with the Panthers worth $63 million.
He finished the season with 3,733 passing yards and 15 passing TDs against 11 interceptions. He further rushed for 279 yards with 5 rushing TDs in his first full season as a starter since 2015.
But Matt Rhule’s Carolina Panthers side could only manage a 3rd-place finish in the NFC South with a 5-11 record behind Super Bowl LV winners Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

They own the #8 overall pick at the 2021 NFL Draft and were reportedly on the hunt for a young quarterback in order to replace Bridgewater.
An earlier report published by The Athletic claimed that Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers were in the race to secure a trade for Teddy B. But those rumors are baseless as per NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Speaking on a recent podcast, Ian Rapoport was quick to confirm that the NFC West big boys are not in contact with Teddy Bridgewater and his entourage, at least for now.
“It turns out the 49ers did not call about Teddy Bridgewater, but if he was available, that would be an interesting option. [The 49ers] did not call; did not.
“I’m sure they have some interest if he is released, but they did not call the Panthers about it,” Rapoport said on the Murph & Mac show.

This makes sense considering the fact that coach Matt Rhule confirmed that Bridgewater still has a future in Carolina earlier this week.
The Panthers have been linked to 2021 NFL Draft prospects Trey Lance (NDSU), Zach Wilson (BYU), and even Mac Jones (Alabama Crimson Tide).
Meanwhile, the 49ers are still keen on giving the injury-prone Jimmy Garoppolo another shot in 2021. Coach Shanahan and GM John Lynch have both publicly backed Jimmy G in recent weeks. But this could be a do-or-die season for the former New England Patriots man.
