It’ll be quite some time before the NFL world can fully forget the shocking incidents from January 2, 2023. The Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills regular season clash turned into scenes of melancholy as Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field with a cardiac arrest. Eventually, it was the first response team that was responsible for the Bills’ safety making it in a near-fatal situation. Carolina Panthers definitely learned a lesson from the entire episode.
The NFC South franchise collaborated with the American Heart Association as they gathered in the Atrium Health Dome on Monday to be fully prepared for any future medical emergencies. Guess the Bills just set a major example for the rest of the NFL franchises.

Ever since recovering from his tragic heart attack nearly three months ago, Damar Hamlin has been actively campaigning for the importance of appropriate CPR and AED training among all NFL teams. Damar has, to date, raised more than $9 million dollars for his Chasing M’s Foundation. The eight minutes of CPR that Damar received on-field turned out to be the difference between life and death for the 25-year-old. David Tepper’s Carolina Panthers took up the gloves to train for similar adversity.
“I honestly feel like this is my life’s mission and purpose now,” Damar Hamlin said at the Panthers’ training. The franchise held the CPR and AED training session for season ticket holders as well, in addition to the players and organization staff. Along with Hamlin, experts from the American Heart Association were also present.

Damar wouldn’t have known about the event had it not been for Panthers owner David Tepper’s wife, Nicole. Hamlin met her during the Super Bowl and decided to attend the event this week.
The league is taking strong measures to prevent any tragic happenings on-field
It’s been quite a busy month for the still-sidelined Damar Hamlin. Last week, the safety sat down for a chat with the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden. “It was a pleasure & an honor meeting you today. I know your time is precious and I wouldn’t waste a second of it! Our conversations were valuable,” Damar captioned a photo with the POTUS.

That’s not all keeping Hamlin occupied. He is also part of the NFL’s official venture to increase CPR and AED training and awareness at the high school and college level, in addition to the big leagues. ‘The Smart Heart Sports Coalition’ has all other major sporting leagues on board too, including the NBA, NHL, Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, and NCAA.
