The Arizona Cardinals look to maintain their winning run and their quarterback choice will remain unchanged from their previous win against the Rams. According to Ian Rapoport, QB Colt McCoy is set to start on Monday night in Kyler Murray’s absence. Murray will be missing his second game this season because of his hamstring injury.
Colt McCoy will have an uphill task with Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers coming in after their bye week. This win is crucial in Arizona’s chase for a playoff berth. The 5-4 49ers are in second place at the moment, right above the 4-6 Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West Division. McCoy had led the Cardinals to a stomping win over the Niners in last season’s Week 9 matchup. However, at the Estadio Azteca, things might be vastly different.

Kyler Murray was having an impressive season before his hamstring injury put him on the reserves. The 25-year-old has 2168 passing yards this NFL season with 12 touchdowns. In the Cardinals’ matchup against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 10 this season, Murray scored a 101.5 passer rating with a 71.4% completion and 2 touchdowns. Murray also had a massive 326 yards game against the Minnesota Vikings. However, his 3 touchdowns weren’t enough to stop Kirk Cousins and the Vikings.
The Birdgang was concerned after Kyler Murray’s hamstring pull. However, veteran QB Colt McCoy stepped up to the occasion. Against Aaron Donald and the reigning Super Bowl champions, the LA Rams, McCoy threw for 238 yards and a TD to A J Green. The Rams were without their starting QB and Super Bowl champion Matthew Stafford. Cardinals RB James Conner ran for 2 touchdowns for the Cardinals in the 27-17 win over the LA side.

Kyler Murray had limited practice on Thursday and returned for a full session on Friday. However, he hasn’t received a green signal from the medical department which is in no mood to rush it. Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury doesn’t want to risk Murray unless it’s a game-time decision. Can McCoy and DeAndre Hopkins match up against Jimmy Garoppolo and Christian McCaffrey’s 49ers and get the critical victory against their divisional rivals?
