The Michael Irvin saga that started over a month ago is probably in the end zone now. The release of a video of the conversation between the Dallas Cowboys legend and the woman who accused him cleared some air. And now Irvin has got the backing of some others too. Three witnesses have dropped remarks on the allegations and the subsequent lawsuit after the release of the video.

Irvin landed in trouble after a woman employee at a Phoenix hotel accused him of sexual harassment early last month. Both the parties have their versions of what happened, and some witnesses have backed one over the other.

Michael Irvin has got the backing of three eyewitnesses who saw what transpired between him and his accuser in the Marriott hotel. And they have backed the NFL legend fully as they recalled what transpired that fateful day.

“Nothing that I saw (in recent weeks) made me think, ‘Oh, shoot, maybe I think differently now or maybe I was wrong.’ Nothing like that whatsoever. It just seems more fabricated than it did when it started,” Bryan Davis, one of the eyewitnesses, told the Dallas Morning News.

Another eyewitness, Phil Watkins, also backed the former wide receiver, who was there to cover the Super Bowl build-up in Arizona.

“In my opinion, he was essentially canceled until proven innocent,” Watkins said about the case and its aftermath.

The third witness, Joe Manuele, believes the woman in question knew who she was talking to. He recalled a waitress asking them about Irvin and then talking to the accuser before she came to the football legend.

So, according to the three witnesses, Irvin did no wrong that day. The case started with the allegations and has snowballed into claims, counter-claims and also involves a $100 million lawsuit.

The story so far

Michael Irvin’s troubles started a week before the Super Bowl clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. He was already in Arizona to cover the build-up for ESPN and the NFL Network. He met the three witnesses in the Marriott Hotel in Phoenix before running into his accuser. And the woman alleged that he had harassed her during their conversation. And due to the allegations, both the networks removed him from their Super Bowl coverage.

Irvin went on a counter-offensive with a $100 million defamation lawsuit against the hotel. His lawyer Levi McCarthern also released a video of Irvin talking to the woman. And he is of the opinion that there is no case after that.
