The possibility of Tom Brady joining the Las Vegas Raiders in the upcoming season has recently been a topic of discussion. The Raiders had signed Jimmy Garoppolo as a free agent, but unfortunately, he suffered a foot injury and failed the physical examination, requiring surgery. The team still expects Garoppolo to play, but they modified his contract by removing the $11 million bonus, indicating they may move on if he isn’t healthy enough.

Meanwhile, Tom Brady, with his connections to owner Mark Davis and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, is allegedly seeking approval to join the Raiders, which has sparked speculation. As a result of this, Chris Broussard and Rob Parker, hosts of The Odd Couple on FOX Sports Radio, specifically Parker express his strong disdain for Tom Brady.

Even former QB and HOF, Troy Aikman expressed that he wouldn’t rule out such a scenario, mentioning Brady’s familiarity with the head coach and the offense, although he believes Brady is done playing. Aikman stated- “I wouldn’t rule anything out. He [Brady] obviously you know has a relationship with the head coach. He [Brady] knows the offense he’ll keep himself in great shape.”

Aikman detailed his thought- “I’m a big Jimmy Garoppolo fan so I’m really pulling for him, but you know I would bet that just nothing’s off the table as far as you know what may occur during the season or what Tom’s role may be uh I think he’s done playing but you just never know those things kind of just happen out of nowhere you don’t really predict them.”

Rob Parker initially found Troy Aikman’s comment about Tom Brady’s retirement to be inappropriate. He agrees with Aikman that Brady is likely done playing and hopes that’s the case, wanting to move on from discussing him. Parker believes that after someone has been in the league for so long, it becomes tiresome.

“At first I thought it was out of pocket and he(Aikman) says ‘I think he’s done playing’ because I think he’s done playing too. I do hope he’s (Tom) done. I’m like enough! Can we move on to somebody else can we talk about somebody else, please?” stated Parker. He also criticizes Brady’s performance in the red zone, considering it terrible and not caring about his throws. And highlights Brady’s low touchdown percentage, high yards per attempt, low air yards per attempt, and his career-low QBR, concluding that Brady was awful last year.

Is Brady replacing Garoppolo?

While there is no official confirmation, rumors suggest that Tom Brady might replace Garoppolo as the Raiders’ QB. Brady’s potential return from retirement hinges on Garoppolo’s foot injury. Additionally, Brady’s plans to buy a minority stake in the Raiders could further complicate matters, requiring approval from other owners and potentially relinquishing his ownership before playing again.

Brady has not addressed these rumors, though analysts like Troy Aikman don’t dismiss the possibility. As for Garoppolo, who recently signed a lucrative contract with the Raiders, he is still recovering from foot surgery. The team has alternative QB options in Brian Hoyer and rookie Aidan O’Connell. While the NFL world may not anticipate the possibility of Brady joining the Raiders, it raises an important question: will they feel the pressure if Garoppolo won’t return?
