“Burst Into Tears”: Gisele Bündchen Revisits a Difficult Day Before Tom Brady Entered Her Life

Gisele Bündchen rose from the bottom to the top of her profession after a lot of struggles. And the supermodel opened up about many such instances in her memoir. Bündchen recalled one such difficult day before Tom Brady walked into her life. 

Bündchen recalled a day in Sao Paulo when she was left with no money. Somebody stole her wallet, and she couldn’t do anything but just cry on a street corner. All this was during her days of struggle before she became the famous supermodel fans know and met the NFL legend, Tom Brady.

A kind woman on the street helped Gisele Bündchen

Bündchen wrote in her memoir ‘Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life,’ “I’d left my backpack shut, but the top now flapped open. My wallet with the money in it hadn’t dropped out; someone had stolen it. As if I was in a dream, I left the subway station and went outside. The streets were hot and smelly. I crouched down on my suitcase and burst into tears.” But it wasn’t the money that made her cry. She cried about the fact that she did not have any ID left with her as it had gone with the wallet. 

“It wasn’t just the missing money that upset me, though that was bad enough; it was that now I had no ID either. Thank God I still had the slip of paper with the address and phone number of the models’ apartment. But I didn’t have any money to make a call at the pay phone,” the supermodel added.

Thankfully, she met a kind woman on the street who heard her story and gave her enough change to call home. Bündchen called home to her father and sorted things out. She may have become famous after a while, but never forgot what happened on that difficult day.

The days of stardom 

Gisele Bündchen soon left the days of struggle behind to become the face of the modeling industry. She became a star and the highest-paid fashion model in the world. Money wasn’t a problem for her anymore.

Then she met another star, the then-New England Patriots QB Tom Brady. The couple got married in 2009 and remained so for 13 years before their divorce in 2022. From struggling on the street to becoming a star model in the world, Bündchen has seen it all.
