Buffalo Bills quarterback Jake Fromm got involved in a heap of trouble recently. Apparently, some racist text messages got leaked and posted on social media. As a result, the Bills rookie quarterback had to go into damage control mode and apologize.
According to reports, those messages were sent last year, but it still reflects poorly on Fromm. The 21-year-old might see his reputation dip, especially during such a volatile time in the United States.
The texts dated as far back as March 16, 2019. Apparently, he talked about gun laws in the USA and thought “guns are good.” He later added, “Just make them very expensive so only elite white people can get them haha.”

What did Jake Fromm say?
“I am extremely sorry that I chose to use the words ‘elite white people’ in a text message conversation,” Fromm wrote in a statement. “Although I never meant to imply that I am an ‘elite white person,’ as stated later in the conversation, there’s no excuse for that word choice and sentiment. While it was poor, my heart is not.

“Now, more than ever, is the time for support and togetherness and I stand against racism 100%. I promise to commit myself to being a part of the solution in this country. I addressed my teammates and coaches in a team meeting today and I hope they see this incident is not representative of the person I am. Again, I’m truly sorry for my words and actions and humbly ask for forgiveness.”
At the time, Fromm was Georgia’s starting college quarterback. The Buffalo Bills managed to rope him into the squad during the fifth round of the 2020 NFL draft. Now, it remains to be seen how the NFL and the Bills respond to him.
