Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen was one of the standout performers during the 2021 NFL playoffs. But unfortunately, the Bills did go out as the Kansas City Chiefs did take the game away from them in overtime. But the abrupt end to his NFL season results in getting him an invitation to play golf at Pebble Beach. A lifelong golf enthusiast, Allen has been making appearances in several Pro-Am tournaments. He recognizes this event and knows how it is the creme la creme tournament.

The Bills QB did jump at the opportunity to play at the Monterey Peninsula to forget the painful memories of disappointment only 2 weeks prior. Allen does recall while talking about the invitational how his parents would find a babysitter to look after him while they would spend time in Monterey. The 25-year-old now understands the allure for his parents and seems to have forgiven their only instance of bad parenting.

But Allen concedes he might be a little rusty with his golf swing after a fantastic 2021 NFL season. His enthusiasm for the event does display an equal love for golf as he has for football. 

While talking in a sit-down interview about the opportunity he states, “I know not many people get this opportunity to come out here and play with some special golfers and enjoy this experience, so once I was asked, I knew it was a no-brainer, I needed to be out here.

The QB1 for the Buffalo Bills has also played golf in various other invitational tournaments. He also values the golfers he will be playing with and showcases camaraderie during the interview. Golfer Keith Mitchell did give candid responses to Allen’s questions following his poor performance in the Celebrity Shootout on Wednesday. But former Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald backs his fellow sport’s emerging talent. He did predict that Allen and his partner will be a tough out for Mitchell.

Though the young QB admits that he now was able to truly appreciate the great game between the Bills and Chiefs. A slugfest between two of the brightest QB talents in Allen and Mahomes did deliver a thrilling game. But his attention does now moves onto Saturday to play first at Monterey Peninsula Country Club, then Spyglass Hill, and then move to Pebble Beach.

The event does have a celebrity rotation with some big names. The list has the likes of Bill Murray, Don Cheadle, Darius Rucker, Jake Owen, and newcomers Mia Hamm and Mookie Betts. It will be a different pressure than something the young QB will ever encounter in the NFL. It will be an event he will be channeling his focus into until the beginning of the 2022 NFL season.
