Founded in 1960, the Buffalo Bills is the only NFL franchise to play home games in New York state. Its original owners named it after the legendary American frontiersman of the same name. The Bills have never won a Super Bowl but have appeared in it four times. In 2014, Terry and Kim Pegula bought the franchise after the death of its original owner, Ralph Wilson.

The billionaire business owner and his wife own the Bills together. However, earlier this month, news surfaced of Kim Pegula, unfortunately, being hospitalized because of suffering from unspecified health issues.

What statement did the Pegula family release?

However, the Pegula family recently released a statement regarding Kim Pegula’s health. They said, “Kim is progressing well and is resting and rehabilitating from a health issue. We are grateful for the medical professionals providing her care and to everyone for their prayers and well wishes.

Kim was reportedly being treated in the ICU of the Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional since the family released their first statement on her health. With this second statement, the family has put to rest any misplaced rumor or worries about the Bills owner’s health.

Kim has served as the President of the Bills since 2018. Kim and Terry are not just the owners of the Buffalo Bills. They are also owners of the NGL franchise, the Buffalo Sabres. Kim is also President of the latter and the President/ CEO of Pegula Sports and Entertainment. One of the couple’s children is the pro tennis player Jessica Pegula, the current No. 9 in the WTA rankings.

The Bills are among 12 NFL franchisees who are still in pursuit of their first trophy. However, they lead the pack in terms of performance and can win the Vince Lombardi trophy soon. Over their 63 seasons since inception, the Bills have a win-loss ratio of 449-492-8. In the 1990s, the franchise saw its greatest successes and appeared in the Super Bowl for four consecutive years (1990-93).

The franchise went through a 16-year playoffs drought between 2000-16. However, after the Pegula family purchased it in 2014, the team reached the playoffs four times between 2017 and 2022 under HC Sean McDermott.

The Bills definitely have seen a spurt in their performance since the Pegula family took place and it would definitely hope that Kim Pegula recovers quickly to return to the helm of affairs at the franchise.
