The Bills Mafia may see a facelift version of their current stomping grounds in the upcoming years. As exciting as it sounds, the New York taxpayers will contribute over 75-80% of the estimated value of the Buffalo Bills’ new facility. However, this brings in a couple of individuals with their own denunciation over the enormous investment. Even a congressional representative gave a critical statement about it.

New York officials plan to revamp the stadium across the avenue on the Bills’ current residence in a Buffalo neighborhood. The re-development receives the largest public funding allocation for a professional football venue in history. The new sports and entertainment complex has a tempting design with a high valuation.

Moreover, this continues a decades-long pattern wherein states and local governments pay considerable amounts of money to maintain or tempt for-profit, privately owned football clubs.

When the official news of the $1.4 Billion facelift venue went public, critics battered the plan. They think it to be an obvious consequence of electoral-year giveaways. Yuh-Line Niou, a congressional representative, also criticizes the judgment. She claims that the climate initiative, which they genuinely wanted, received less funding than the Buffalo Bills initiative.

She keeps her side via Twitter, “Our public schools got less than the Bills stadium, The climate bill, the climate project that we really wanted, also got less than the Buffalo Bills project. Is that what we stand for? This is a moment where we have to look at where our priorities are.”

The new state-of-the-art open-air stadia will be in Orchard Park, New York. The new facility will replace the Bills’ Highmark Stadium, their home since 1973. They will open their gates in the year 2026, making it ready for service. The Bills will get a remarkable $850 million from public taxpayers, and also $250 million from Erie County, besides the $600 million in state funds.

Many NFL fans are concerned about the new field persists because they believe that taxpayer money needs to be well spent.
