Bucs Star Devin White Issues Statement After Playing Through Father’s Death in Germany to Win First Major Accolade of the Season

Devin White played spectacularly during his game against the Seattle Seahawks in Munich. White was playing through an immense personal loss.

The Bucs linebacker found out that his father passed away unexpectedly in Louisiana. However, he only had mere hours to decide if he would go to Munich to play or not. He made the tough decision of playing in Germany.

His father’s passing really devastated Devin White. However, he buckled up and went on to put up a show through his amazing defensive effort in Munich. In the post-game interview, White spoke about the impact it had on him.

He spoke about the emotions and said, “I mean it was very hard to play you know just a lot of emotions uh but I tried to turn them into good emotions and you know just keep a great spirit you know just that’s the relationship we had.” 

Subsequently, he also spoke about making big plays in the game and honoring his father. He went on to say, “The minute I made a big play you know I just knew I was going to honor him.” Devin White had put up spectacular numbers in the game against the Seahawks. He had 9 takedowns, 2 sacks, and 1 forced fumble.

Devin White also ended up winning the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Furthermore, his performance at Munich majorly contributed to this achievement.

White had a spectacular game in Munich against the Seattle Seahawks. He was crucial in holding the Seahawks to just 283 yards throughout the whole game. Subsequently, the Bucs linebacker was awarded another Defensive Player of the Week. Furthermore, he also had a great defensive effort, swiping the ball out of Geno Smith’s hand which led to an 87-yard touchdown for the Bucs. The Bucs linebacker was on the top of his game, even after experiencing such a profound loss. Subsequently, the linebacker also took to Twitter to make a comment that possibly was his comment on his father passing away.

After experiencing such a loss, Devin White performed excellently. Playing after finding out his father passed away in itself is a huge feat of strength. Moreover, he performed so well that he was able to get the Defensive Player of the Week. After such a loss, Devin White’s performance was one of the most commendable feats on the field.
