Since Tom Brady announced his retirement on the 1st of February, many people have been wondering about the quarterback situation with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers team. Recently, the Bucs’ general manager Jason Licht opened up about giving a fair opportunity to the 24-year-old quarterback Kyle Trask. Earlier, Rick Stroud of the ‘Tampa Bay Times’ posted a series of tweets, presenting Licht’s comments about the young QB.

Notably, the Tampa Bay team drafted Trask back in 2021 and since then, he played only one game while backing up Brady. With Brady retiring, Trask finally got the opportunity to show his football prowess. Certainly, it will be interesting to see if could fill in Brady’s shoes.

In a recent interview, Licht talked about anticipating Brady’s retirement. We were planning on Tom (Brady) not being here forever. So we’ve been planning this for a while but his retirement so we have a lot of faith in Kyle (Trask). Licht also confirmed that Trask will join the offseason training camp soon. Apart from Brady’s retirement, another Bucs QB Blaine Gabbert is all set to hit free agency and will eventually leave the team. Although Trask will become the no.1 QB on the team, Licht confirmed that they will look for another quarterback in the market for sure.

When Brady reached out to Trask after getting drafted by the Bucs

Back in 2021, when the Bucs drafted Trask in the second round of the NFL draft, Brady reached out to the young QB just a couple of days after. “He reached out to me a couple days after the draft and he was just checking in on when I get into town so we can get together and maybe do some throwing and things like that… It meant a lot to me,” Trask said in an interview.

In three seasons, Brady took the Bucs to the playoffs in all three seasons while winning the Super Bowl in 2021. Certainly, it will not be an easy task for Trask. As for Brady, he will soon join Fox as an analyst after a massive $375 million deal.
