Tom Brady was a messiah for the New England Patriots. The team fired its then HC, Pete Carrol, after losing six of their final eight games in the 1999 season. That’s when they brought in Bill Belichick as a replacement. And then, the 2000 NFL draft saw Tom Brady picked 199 overall by the Patriots. While not a top draft prospect, they brought him in as a backup for Drew Bledsoe. But his work ethic proved to be the turning point for the Patriots, as he led them to nine AFC titles and Super Bowl wins. And now, Brady, who is now regarded as the GOAT of the game, finds another 2023 draftee who faced a similar situation in this year’s NFL draft.
23-year-old QB Will Levis was a top draft prospect prior to the start of the 2023 draft. Despite being projected as a top prospect, Levis faced embarrassment when teams overlooked him in the first round. And now, he finds solace in some healing words from the future Hall of Famer Tom Brady.

Levis’s challenging draft experience
The 2023 draft in Kansas City saw the likes of Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, and Anthony Richardson going to their respective teams as top prospects. Even Will Levis was projected to be a top-15 prospect coming into the draft. But the first day saw him and his family waiting anxiously for his name to be called out on day 1. He did not stick around for day 2 of the draft, which is when the Tennessee Titans picked the 23-year-old QB as their 33rd overall pick after trading up eight spots in a deal with the Arizona Cardinals. While the Titans still have veteran QB Ryan Tannehill, Levis will be expected to hone his abilities to be ready to shine when his time comes.
