Deshaun Watson donated his first Paycheck at Age 22

Watson, a Clemson University alum and a Browns player with a whopping $230 million contract, recently shared a screenshot on his IG story to address a report about an incident that happened six years ago, and how he donated his first paycheck. An hour ago he acknowledged, “I did that! And Still giving! Thank you fam!” And, Deshaun Watson’s screenshot read, which he reacted: “Five Years Before Signing $230,000,000 Deal, Deshaun Watson Donated His Entire First Paycheck to Hurricane Harvey…”

At the age of 22, Deshaun Watson gave away his first paycheck. In an old video, he entered the cafeteria with ribbon-tied envelopes and told them, “Hopefully, that’s good and that can get you back on your feet. And anything else y’all need, I’m always here to help.” Deshaun generous gesture was to three women who worked in the NRG Stadium cafeteria.

Deshaun’s six-figure amount

2017’s rookie QB of the Houston Texans gave his first game check to Denisse Benavides, Isabel Sanchez, and Maria Rincon, who had lost everything in the devastating Hurricane Harvey. The storm killed 84+ people and flooded their homes, per reports. Watson’s donation was worth $27,353, more than half of his base salary of $465,000. The storm wreaked havoc on 13 million people, as the Center for Disaster Philanthropy reports. It displaced over a million people and destroyed 200,000 homes across a 300-mile span of the Gulf Coast, with Texas bearing the brunt of the damage. The death toll was significant, it was not just Deshaun with the paycheck.

Interestingly, some known big entities also showed their generosity and compassion for the victims. As famous comedian Kevin Hart initiated a new relief method with a challenge on Instagram, where he donated $25,000 and urged his famous friends like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to do the same. The Rock accepted the challenge and matched Hart’s donation. He also shared a video where he expressed his empathy for the Houston residents, having experienced a similar disaster in the past. Another notable contributor was former Houston Texans DE JJ Watt, who raised over $3.2 million with his ‘YouCaring fundraiser’. The NFL and other celebs across the country hold hands for the noble cause.
