Tom Brady is in his 23rd season in the NFL and he is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. Over the years, many quarterbacks have come and gone. And nobody could take Brady’s throne- in New England, Tampa, or in the league. However, that didn’t stop people from learning as much as they could from the GOAT.
Cleveland Browns QB Jacoby Brissett had no enmity with Brady when he was drafted by the Patriots in 2016. This was no Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre situation. This was a case of a fan meeting his idol.
The then wide-eyed 23-year-old from North Carolina State was in awe of Tom Brady’s accomplishments and wanted to imbibe as much as he could. The Cleveland Browns quarterback spoke about his days in Foxborough before Sunday’s matchup with his former QB and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“I was that kid that was annoying as hell and kind of just, wherever he [Tom Brady] went I tried to follow, the places that I could go, and just trying to get as much information,” Brissett said. TB12 had won 4 world championships when Jacoby Brissett came in and so his fanboying made complete sense.

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots won one of the most thrilling Super Bowl matchups in 2015 against the Seattle Seahawks. They beat the Seahawks 28-24. After 4 Super Bowl rings, you are bound to have a few people follow you and ask questions about your achievements. And Brady has only moved forward, winning three more Super Bowls in the next 5 years.
For a rookie quarterback trying to learn the position, Jacoby Brissett couldn’t have had a better mentor than Tom Brady. However, even after winning multiple championships, the Browns QB was most impressed by TB12’s attitude toward young players on the team. “Because everybody looks at him as Tom Brady and he doesn’t think he is Tom Brady, I would say,” Jacoby said.
Brissett was part of the New England Patriots team that won a Super Bowl against the Atlanta Falcons in 2017. However, after the championship, Brissett went to play for the Indianapolis Colts. He joined the Cleveland Browns this year. However, Jacoby will probably start his last game for the Browns against Brady and the Bucs after Deshaun Watson returns from his 11-game suspension.
