Russell Wilson exchanged shirts with ex-teammate DK Metcalf after the game, irrespective of the loss. Metcalf wrote “The Greatest Player I ever played with” on his jersey, and supposedly this touched the hearts of the Broncos QB. Wilson shared a message for the Seahawks WR saying “Love forever Bro!” in a Twitter post. After joining the Seahawks as a rookie, Metcalf always regarded Wilson as one of his compatriots, helping him out in learning the game.
Did the Seahawks already get the replacement of Russell Wilson?
Apparently, Baker Mayfield wasn’t the only one who played against his former team too on game week 1. The Professor had a point to prove by coming back to Lumen Field and showing his ex-teammates what they will miss this season. However, it was Geno Smith, starting his first season-opener in 8 years, who laughed the last laugh. Wilson was impressive too and almost staged a comeback for the Broncos late in the match.

Geno Smith has mostly been used as a backup during the past few seasons. But, his nearly flawless performance has caught the eyes of many prolific experts in the game.
Smith, himself is enthusiastic about the display and wants to reinvigorate his career. “They wrote me off, I ain’t write back, though,” He said in the post-match conference while talking to ESPN. However, the athlete is self-aware of the need for consistency throughout the season. He hopes to continue this form throughout the season and silence his critics as well helping take the Seahawks to the Playoffs. All eyes will definitely be on Geno, that is for sure!!
