According to ESPN, the New England Patriots will not have their head coach or executive present at the media interview session. The six-time Super Bowl-winning coach will keep a low media profile and will not participate in the reporters’ Q&A.

Even though teams don’t need to participate in such interviews, the NFL strongly encourages them to do so. Nevertheless, Belichick’s decision was not surprising.
Bill Belichick has dodged media questions
The reporters may ask Belichick to address the matter that has gained a lot of attention recently surrounding the message that he sent to Brian Flores by mistake. Bill Belichick congratulated Brian Flores on securing the job as head coach of the New York Giants in a text message. However, the text was originally intended for Brian Daboll.
The Giants have scheduled the coaching interview with Flores the next day. Consequently, when Flores learned that the role had already been offered to Daboll, he sued the NFL and three other teams, including Giants. Therefore, since Belichick hasn’t addressed this issue publicly, the media may ask him to speak on the subject.

Further, the Patriots offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels, along with three other offensive assistants, resigned recently from under Belichick. Moreover, the team hasn’t announced any plans regarding who will replace them. It is possible, therefore, that the reporters will ask him about the current situation of his coaching staff.
Therefore, Belichick has avoided answering media questions by announcing he will be an outliner. Because he has done the same in the past, the head coach not addressing the media is not surprising.

Moreover, he usually doesn’t divulge any information when the reporters put forth any non-sporting questions to him. Thus, it wouldn’t make much difference since Belichick has already decided not to attend the interview.
