With a new variant of the COVID 19 spreading quickly across the world, sports teams and sporting activities, in general, have taken a hit. Unfortunately, there are many casualties from the NFL, and one amongst them is the New Orleans Saints.

Injury crisis for the Saints

Earlier this week, the New Orleans Saints stunned the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a shutdown 9-0 win. After the incredible win, many thought this to be the turning point in their campaign. But alas, their campaign fell off the cliff in an instant as a couple of days later, the Saints camp shook with the COVID outbreak.

As per the latest data, the following players have been put on the NFL’s Reserve/COVID 19 list by the New Orleans Saints – Guard James Carpenter, linebacker Kaden Elliss, safety Jeff Heath, quarterback Taysom Hill, defensive end Jalyn Holmes, safety Malcolm Jenkins, tackle Jordan Mills, defensive tackle Christian Ringo, quarterback Trevor Siemian, tight end Adam Trautman, and tight end Juwan Johnson.

The New Orleans Saints sign QB Blake Bortles

Losing 11 starting players in the business end of the season is the stuff of a nightmare and that’s what the Saints are going through right now. For starters, a crisis not only hampers the team environment but also the playing rhythm of the team. Moreover, the team also needs to find able backups or replacements at a quick speed.

When one is in a position where the Saints are right now, they don’t have the time to take it slow or think things through. Replacement signings need to be immediate, and that’s what the New Orleans-based side has done. In order to solidify their QB crisis, the Saints have fast-tracked the signing of veteran quarterback Blake Bortles.
