The upcoming fixture against Denver Broncos represents a shift for Cleveland Browns. Baker Mayfield has been their heart and soul, but recent performances suggest he’s not at his best. Until reports of a shoulder injury surfaced, many expected Mayfield’s time at Cleveland to have ended.

The Browns have picked up three wins out of six games. In each of them, Baker Mayfield played a pivotal role. Cleveland leads the league in the most collective rushing yards, and it is that offensive line led by Mayfield that got them there. Against Arizona Cardinals, Mayfield did not have his best game, but still managed to throw what was easily the best touchdown of the week.

While he put his 100%, it only caused his shoulder to separate further. A torn labrum occurs when the cartilage holding the ball joint together rips, causing not only agonizing pain but even surgery. For weeks, Mayfield has set aside the injury, but his bravado might’ve cost his team a few crucial games.

With Case Keenum stepping in his shoes, Cleveland Browns are trusting one of the NFL’s hidden secrets. A successful collegiate career could not translate into a successful NFL career for the journeyman. But can he step up and deliver for his sixth franchise in the NFL?

While they may lead Kansas City Chiefs; a big feat for the Broncos; a loss to the Browns could spell catastrophe for their season. With Baker Mayfield out, they must capitalise on the situation. As for the Browns, Baker isn’t the only star player they are missing.
