There have been several instances in NFL history where the Packers QB Aaron Rodgers surprised fans and the opponents with his magical gameplay. One such game was against the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round playoffs of 2016, where the Packers clinched a thumping victory with a narrow margin and maintained their winning streak. However, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes Packers came out victorious because his team ‘underestimated’ Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers thwarted the Cowboys’ chase for a playoff victory by throwing a 36-yard pass to Jared Cook on the sideline in the last few seconds. Later on, a clean 51-yard field goal kicked by Mason Crosby added more colors to the game. It helped the Packers enter the NFC championship game for the eighth straight time with a 34-31 victory against the Dallas Cowboys.
Reacting to the result, per reports, Jerry Jones admitted that his side went too easy against the Rodgers-led offensive unit. A sloppy start made them pay more, and certainly, the Cowboys underestimated Aaron Rodgers, which shouldn’t have been the case on the field.
Although it was a frustrating loss at the hands of Rodgers, the Dallas Cowboys had a successful season. They finished their campaign with a record of 13 wins and three losses.
It also helped the Cowboys finish first in the NFC East. Dak Prescott led the offensive unit from the front with impressive passing for 3,667 yards. Receivers like Cole Beasley, Dez Bryant, and Jason Witten fueled the wide receiver room for the side.
Jerry Jones is confident of Super Bowl contention this season

Last year, the franchise finished 12-5 in the regular season, not a good campaign looking at the past records of the Cowboys. When asked if the team is ready to make up for the 2021 season, Jones said, “I think we’re in better shape”. When the reporters asked how hopeful they are to run for a Super Bowl this season, Jones explained that they have a better team this time.
“I thought we had a team put together last year that was healthy enough when we got to the playoffs,…. we made a Hell of a run at it. We got disappointed, but we made a run at it. I think we’re in better shape today to make a run at it than when we were sitting here this time last year.” He added to his statements.
