Damar Hamlin is back in action, or at least that’s what the recent reports suggest. The entire NFL held their breaths as the Bills‘ safety underwent a cardiac arrest following a collision with Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. Even though Hamlin got up immediately, the damage had been done as he soon collapsed on the ground. Fortunately for Hamlin, medical attention was provided immediately, and after 10 minutes of CPR, the NFL star was shifted to a hospital.

The mishap made the NFL cancel the game, as players from both teams dropped to their knees chanting prayers under their breath. These prayers did come to fruition as Hamlin and his miraculous recovery left the entire sporting world short of words, including his own General Manager.

During his recent appearance on the Rich Eisen show, the Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane shared his perspective on Hamlin’s recovery.

Yeah, it’s crazy rich earlier like, where, you know after that happened and just watching him in the hospital fight for his life, you know for several days before at least, there’s like 48 to 72 hours for the doctors told us that he’s going to live and so to go from that and then the thing he’s gonna do this offseason to get healthy again it is a miracle that he is full go full clearance. It’s hard for us to believe,” expressed Beane.

The Bills’ medical staff were constantly involved with Hamlin and his recovery process. A major part of Hamlin’s recovery was all the good wishes and prayers sent his way, and the Bills made sure of honoring Damar in their first game since the cardiac arrest. The real heroes were however, the first responders, and the Cincinnati mayor made sure to uplift their contribution by handing them a key to the city.

The eventual return

During his first televised interview, Hamlin spoke about his ambitions of running out of the tunnel once more, “Still working through things. I’m still trying to process all the emotions, the trauma, that comes from dealing with a situation like that.”

The Bills’ GM also spoke of similar concerns on the Rich Eisen Show, “You know, there’s a mental hurdle here that we need to work with him. It’s natural. I mean, this guy was revived on the field. And it’s this is unprecedented from anything I’ve seen“.
