The NFL trade deadline just ended. This window of trades was a hot market for the wide receivers in the league, with multiple franchises looking to strengthen their offense. However, after requesting for a trade to the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks seemed extremely unhappy at how things turned out.

Brandin Cooks has to remain a Texan after the franchise refused to trade the player. All eyes were on Houston Texans GM Nick Caserio during the hours before the deadline. Unfortunately, Brandin Cooks’ trade to the Dallas Cowboys for future picks and an $18 million guaranteed salary could not go through.

Dallas Cowboys trade falls through for Brandin Cooks

Nick Caserio brought in nine-year veteran Brandin Cooks to Houston to improve the offense after WR DeAndre Hopkins left for the Arizona Cardinals. However, things didn’t work out. Brandin wanted to be traded to the Dallas Cowboys even though the wide receiver signed an extension with Houston in the off-season. The Cowboys deal failed and Brandon expressed his disappointment on Twitter. Cooks wrote, “[Houston Texans] crossed the line with playing with my career.”

Last week, the Texans fired former Executive VP of football operations, Jack Easterby. NFL writer John McClain tweeted that Brandin Cooks extended his support to Easterby and said“a lot of people should be thankful for him. I know I am. I know a lot of people are definitely going to miss him.” This led to Cook’s trade talks. The wide receiver from Oregon State was even seeing liking photos of him in a Cowboys jersey on Twitter. Brandin Cooks also missed practice yesterday for personal reasons.

Fans thought Cooks had given up on the Houstons and were expecting GM Caserio to trade the receiver for a third or fourth-round pick. The time seemed good since a lot of teams like the Packers, Bears and Cowboys were looking for WRs. However, Cook’s transaction could not be agreed upon. Fans doubt this move from Caserio as they seriously doubt Brandin’s commitment to the Texans.

This is Brandin Cook’s 4th team in 9 years

Brandin Cook is a 9-year veteran in the NFL with over 8000 yards and six 1000-yard-seasons. He has received some quality quarterbacks in the past including Drew Brees and Tom Brady. Cooks played for the New Orleans Saints, Brady’s Patriots, LA Rams and finally the Houston Texans. Cooks has reached the Super Bowl twice but has failed to win the ring on both occasions. Dak Prescott and the 6-2 Cowboys would definitely be a stronger unit with the 32-year-old offensive force.

There is no doubt the 1-5-1 Houston Texans need Brandin Cooks in the offense to help out QB Davis Mills. This was clear in their Week 8 loss to the Titans, where Cook’s 4 receptions and 73 yards were the highest in the Texans’ offense. Next up, the Texans face the 7-0 Philadelphia Eagles. Will Brandin Cooks be at his best for Houston after the sense of betrayal he currently feels?
