NFL franchise Los Angeles Rams linebacker Bobby Wagner seems to be holding bad memories about his departure from Seattle. The veteran player was a mainstay in the Seahawks’ defense for the past decade of his NFL career. But the organization did end up surprisingly waiving him from their roster following the trade of former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Wagner officially joined the Los Angeles Rams on a 5-year, $50 million contract as he begins a new chapter in 2022. But he seems to be harboring mixed feelings surrounding his exit and believes they could have had a simple conversation. His tenure with the team did witness the Seahawks capture a Super Bowl title during the 2013 season while recording nearly 1300 tackles in the Seahawks colors.

While being one of the biggest leaders on the team alongside Wilson, Wagner did find it surprising to have no contact about his release. While discussing his departure with Associated Press Greg Beacham, he states, “Even if they wanted to go in different directions, I don’t think me representing myself played any part on my end. It was more on their end… Maybe they want to kind of burn that bridge.

Bobby Wagner remains in the NFC West Division

Wagner did admit he was familiar with this feeling but believes he has shown the capability of handling tough conversations. The Rams LB was representing himself during contract negotiations in the past. He was also in talks by himself with the Super Bowl LVI champions during the offseason. While some Seahawks fans were not happy to see him joining the Rams, he understands their decision to move on.
