Recently, a distressing announcement surfaced regarding Deion Sanders’s health on the Pat McAfee show, revealing that he is currently undergoing surgery to address a blood clot in his groin. This health complication has been troubling him for some time now and also is known to be steadily deteriorating over the course of its existence. Concerned medical professionals have advised him to follow specific measures to avoid the risk of losing his left leg.
Only two years back, he underwent surgery regarding the same hurdles, during which he had to undergo the amputation of two of his toes. As Coach Prime goes through this surgery, a medical doctor by the name of Brian Sutterer sheds light on the ongoing medical procedures.

Brian has amassed a massive following on YouTube, where he provides insights into the medical aspect of sports. The internet personality delved into Sanders’ medical intervention after the news of his surgery broke out. Brian even made a comprehensive video about Sanders’ surgery in 2021. Brian started his analysis with the recent video that was posted by Coach Prime’s medical team. The first point Brain addressed was the blood clot in Sanders’ groin, which was caused by an aneurysm.
He elaborated on the relationship between aneurysms and the formation of blood clots, highlighting how abnormal blood flow through aneurysms can contribute to clot development. He further added that Sanders’ artery had expanded beyond its usual size because of the said aneurysm.
Moreover, the doctor presented a 3D model of an anatomy tool for the entire male circulatory system to demonstrate how the blood clots could have formed in Prime’s groin. Brian then provided an explanation of how arteries naturally become narrower as they extend away from the heart. However, in the case of an aneurysm, these normally narrow arteries expand like balloons, leading to the formation of blood clots.

Brain explained how a little blood clot turns into a life-threatening kill-machine
The doctor proceeded to explain how blood actually clots in the expanded artery. He clarified that blood flow slows down in the expanded area and creates a conducive environment for the accumulation of blood clots. Brian further explained that these clots travel down to narrower areas of the arteries and added that these clots, “block off, plug up the blood supply,” and ultimately, this leads to the death of affected tissues, causing a need for amputation, as in the case of Sanders, who would have to amputate his left leg if the blood flow can not be restored.
As of now, there haven’t been updates regarding Coach Prime’s surgery, and only time will reveal the outcome of the entire situation, including the recovery process and potential long-term effects.
