A few months ago, Damar Hamlin suffered a scary accident on the field. He went into an immediate cardiac arrest while playing and had to be rushed off of the field. However, due to the quick response and good care, the Buffalo Bills‘ safety was able to recover well. Since then, Hamlin has been highly involved in ensuring that players’ safety has been taken safely.

When he went down on the field and was rushed to the hospital, football fans from all over the nation went on to help him. They donated a huge amount of money to help him in his recovery. Recently, the safety went on to announce how he’ll be using the whopping 8 figure donation he got from well-wishers.

When Hamlin was in the hospital, he received a lot of generosity from NFL fans. As per WSOC-TV, they were able to send him about $10 million through online fundraising campaigns. As the country poured its money to raise funds for the safety, good news struck. Hamlin was able to make a speedy recovery. Furthermore, he has gone on to announce that he’ll be putting the $10 million to good use.

Hamlin announced that he’ll be putting forward the lump sum amount towards the non-profit organization he started. He is responsible for creating The Chasing M’s. He started this organization as a college student. The organization helps youths improve the quality of their lives.

Hamlin’s plans for the $10 Million

From the amount of $10 million that was raised through GoFundMe campaigns, Hamlin will be allocating $9.1 million for a community toy drive. Furthermore, almost $1 million is going to another fundraiser set up by the Giving Back Fund that helps other athletes with charitable giving. All in all, the organization that Hamlin built when he was in college helped with the development of health, safety, and upliftment of youth through sports, training, ad various other programs.

After Hamlin was able to recover, he ensured that he was able to give back. With his initiative of donating $10 million to his organization, Hamlin has showcased the same kind of generosity that others showed him.
