Billionaire businessman Jerry Jones is the face of the Dallas Cowboys, and there is no doubt on this matter. While Jones enjoys the spotlight as a go-to associate for every other matter concerning the franchise, ownership groups and stakeholders of the team prefer to earn money in the background.
However, this kind of management seems to have the least value in coach Sean Payton’s principles, who recently spoke about his coaching plans in the future.

The 58-year-old coach Sean Payton is now a full-time broadcaster, who hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a comeback. After completing his stint with the Saints for the last 16 seasons, the veteran announced his retirement this offseason. Later, he joined the FOX studio to learn the new art of being connected with the sport. Throughout his career, Payton’s name has been associated with America’s team several times.
Meanwhile, his unsold property in Texas added more salt to the wounds. However, in reality, the Cowboys were never his dream team.
Recently, Payton marked his appearance on a podcast where he spoke about his inclination towards a coaching career. When asked if he would ever return, Payton mentioned that he will but only under certain conditions.
“The most important element is functional ownership [and] front office … because there’s a handful of teams that aren’t, and those teams, regardless of what takes place, they can win on Sunday, but they have trouble winning long term,” he said.
“The opportunity to win consistently and the willingness to build the correct culture and all those things,” he added to his explanation. If all these parameters are taken into consideration, the Cowboys have no place for the head coach.
Jerry Jones speaks about weighing Sean Payton and Mike McCarthy
Every time Payton’s name gets linked to the Cowboys, he quashes such rumors with a smart response. Currently, Mike McCarthy is catering to the needs of the team. He is serving in the third season of his five-year contract.

Although Payton has started a new gig, his entry back to the league shall only happen through the Saints. His ownership is still with the franchise. So, working a deal with the Cowboys in the current situation isn’t going to help.
“Mike is not only here, but he’s in the best position, in my mind, to lead this team as a coach. He is very qualified to win a Super Bowl.” Jones said about Mike McCarthy.

“So I feel good about Mike. And it shouldn’t be part of a conversation right now as to where Mike is relative to Sean Payton,” he added. Well, it doesn’t take much time to change their minds, as more often than not money is behind all such actions. Do you think Payton will replace McCarthy?
