Rumor has it that Jay-Z is interested in becoming an NFL team owner. He is reportedly teaming up with billionaire Jeff Bezos to try and take over the Washington Commanders. And it has drawn an interesting reaction from his partner, Beyonce’s family. The singer’s mother-in-law has reacted to the rumors.

Dan Snyder is looking for buyers for the Commanders. But will Jay-Z make a good owner?

Tina Knowles backs Jay-Z

Jay-Z’s mother-in-law, Tina Knowles, has backed him up to be a great person for the role of an NFL team owner. She told the media that the singer would make a great owner if Dan Snyder sold him the Commanders franchise. “I have no doubt that anything that they put their minds to, they can do it well,” she said. He has got the full backing of his partner’s family.

Jay-Z reportedly had a secret meeting with Amazon owner Jeff Bezos to discuss the potential takeover of the Commanders. And his mother-in-law isn’t the first person to suggest Jay-Z to be in the front office at Washington. NFL legend Shannon Sharpe and entrepreneur Mark Cuban have aired similar views not so long ago. Sharpe said that having the singer as an owner would be good both for the Commanders and the NFL.

The Washington Commanders sale

Forbes reported earlier this month that the Commanders’ owner Dan Snyder is looking to sell the franchise. The report said that Snyder has hired the Bank of America to go through with the sale. The billionaire is currently under investigation by the House oversight committee and the NFL due to allegations of harassment and financial misconduct. But it is being said that the sale has nothing to do with those investigations.

Buying the Commanders is going to cost around $7 billion, a price tag that Bezos and Jay-Z can afford. The NFL has said that any deal regarding the takeover would need the approval of at least 24 teams of the league. The finance committee of the NFL will also vet the deal.

Washington is struggling on the field, having won just six of the 11 games they have taken the field in. They have the wooden spoon in the NFC East divisional table. With each passing game week, the playoffs seem farther and farther away.
