Chris Godwin did not deserve to be put in such a position. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have followed the Ravens and Seahawks in the trend of bringing in a magician to interact with the team. This interaction went a step further when Godwin was put on the spot.

Oz Pearlman is a mentalist and magician. While speaking to the Buccaneers, Pearlman said that he was going to get into players’ minds, just like they did on the field while reading their opponents. Pearlman took it a step further and backed his words up with shocking and rather unnerving demonstrations. What could be more dangerous than a mentalist able to guess what you’re thinking? The answer is a mentalist who can guess your ATM passcode.

Chris Godwin was wide-eyed and unnerved

Chris Godwin should be the new poster boy for the phrase ”too much information.’‘ Although, in this case, it is not completely the wide receiver’s fault. Who would’ve thought that Pearlman would be able to guess Godwin’s ATM passcode through the receiver’s muscle memory? Prior to his interaction, Godwin mentioned that his wife was the only person who knew his passcode. But now, it seems like the NFL world as a whole has committed those four digits to memory. This would be a good time for the receiver to reset his ATM passcode.

The tricks didn’t stop there. For instance, Pearlman asked defensive lineman Vita Vena to close his eyes and picture someone famous he’d love to meet. The person could be alive or deceased. Pearlman then made a note of who he thought the lineman was picturing and showed it to the rest of the team. Vena was then asked to open his eyes and reveal who he thought of. To everyone’s astonishment, Vena’s response was Bob Marley, the same name Pearlman wrote down.

The NFL world goes bananas over Godwin and the Bucs’ interaction

Coach Todd Bowles was also included during the demonstration. Pearlman rightly predicted the name of the person he [Bowles] was thinking about. To top it all off, the mentalist got defensive lineman Akiem Hicks to correctly guess what running back Leonard Fournette had written. Hicks rightly guessed the birthday of the person Fournette had written down to the exact date. This demonstration even had Tom Brady looking bewildered at what was going on. The NFL world couldn’t get enough of the clips of Peralman’s interaction with the Buccaneers. One fan made a key observation.

Another fan posted a funny picture. Chris Godwin should watch his back.

Pearlman’s demonstrations and tactics seem to be a part of some teams’ pre-game preparation to strengthen their players’ mental capabilities. Players’ reactions to Pearlman’s unsettlingly accurate predictions were pure gold. Back to the Bucs’ season, the team ended their two-game winning streak with a defeat against the Cleveland Browns. The loss takes away any momentary hope from fans, putting the Bucs at 5-6. They will take on the New Orleans Saints in their next bout. Will Brady and his squad be able to bounce back with a victory, or does the magician have to make a return?
