NFL franchise Cincinnati Bengals fans will possibly never forget the month of January 2022 and Joe Burrow for their remaining lifetimes. It did mark the end of their 31-year playoff victory drought courtesy of QB Joe Burrow’s elite winning mentality. It is the beginning of the ‘Joe Cool’ era in Ohio with the resurgence of the franchise to NFL relevancy.

The historic Wild Card game between the Bengals and the Raiders did see the former win the 26-19 game. But what really did attract a lot of interest and excitement was Burrow and his statement post-game. The young QB did state, “I think the fans were very excited, but I tried to downplay it because this is how it’s going to be from here on out. This is the standard, the bare minimum going forward.”
These are fighting words from a very special player who did show signs of his potential during his college years. The ambitions of getting rid of the mental roadblock of being victorious in the playoffs are in the rearview.

Joe Burrow reshaping fortunes of the franchise
The 2020 Heismann Trophy winner is indeed showing some scary potential and is key to the Bengals’ success this season. He did accumulate promising figures as a QB in only his second NFL campaign. He did finish the regular season with 4,611 passing yards with 34 TDs and 14 INTs. Burrow is one of the top 5 QBs this season with an 80.1 QBR rating and a 108.3 passer rating.

Before Burrow’s arrival in Cincinnati, the Bengals were always on the losing side whenever they did reach the Wild Card game. Losing was a recurring theme during their 5 consecutive Wild Card appearances between 2011 and 2015. But since Burrow’s arrival apart from the 2020 season, the Bengals did enjoy success. Cincinnati does have a real potential star on their hands in QB Burrow who has weapons like WR Ja’Marr Chase to complement his vision.

A player who only cares about winning football games, Burrow does provide the Bengals fans despite whoever they face in the Divisional Round. The next challenge for the Bengals is the Tennessee Titans, and it will be an interesting matchup in a must-win game.
