The Bengals lost 23-20 to the LA Rams in Super Bowl LVI, in SoFi Stadium. Cincinnati Bengals Head Coach Zac Taylor talked about losing to the Rams and Burrow’s performance this season and in the Super Bowl.
The coach said, “He’s a fighter, he’s one of the toughest guys I’ve ever met, so much respect for Joe. He’s gotten us this moment and it is just unfortunate that we couldn’t finish it off as a team.”

The Bengals have truly had a magical turnaround going from 4-11-1 last year to playing in the Super Bowl this year. Taylor noted that this is a big deal in and of itself.
Speaking on the impact the loss would have on the young QB, the coach said, “That’s a better question for him but he’s a resilient guy and I’m sure he’s fueled by this.”
Burrow went mistake-less in the Super Bowl
Burrow went virtually mistake-less the whole night. He threw for 263 yards completing 22 passes out of 33 attempts, and a touchdown for 75 yards. But it wasn’t enough to bring the Lombardi trophy home. In the end, as was suspected, Ram’s Defensive front proved to be too big of a challenge for the Bengal’s O-line and Burrow.
He was sacked seven times in the game, even suffering an injury to his ankle. When asked how serious the injury is, Taylor replied, “It’s hard to know, you know, he’s able to play and I’m just calling the plays at that point. We’ll find out more.”
But he also acknowledged that he never thought that Burrow would go out of the game. Taylor said, “he can fight through a lot of pain.”
Causes of loss: no late-game interceptions, inability to stop D-line

After an early touchdown by the Rams, the Bengals retained control with two scores of their own. But late in the fourth quarter, they were unable to stop Aaron Donald and Von Miller from wreaking havoc on Burrow. They also failed to produce late-game interceptions. A serious contributor to their fourth-quarter success in the postseason.
An unforgettable season falls just short.

It is also true that no other team in the league could’ve successfully stopped the likes of Miller and Donald for the length of four quarters. And the coach acknowledged as much in the post-game interview. The Cincinnati Bengals have a lot of positives to take away from this season. Unfortunately, a Lombardi isn’t one of them.
