Aaron Rodgers has been around in the league for quite some time. After players like Tom Brady and Payton Manning, the torch of the high-performing veteran quarterback falls onto Rodgers. It’s safe to say, he has upheld his duties as a veteran quite well. In Green Bay, he had a special connection with several of his players, including Allen Lazard and David Bakhtiari. Furthermore, as the new locker room news is out, it seems like he’ll be playing that role with the New York Jets as well.
Recently, at a press conference with the Jets, the quarterback spoke about different kinds of duties he’ll be fulfilling as he plays QB for the Jets. He spoke about the kind of leadership role he’ll be taking on as well as the changes he has experienced.

During the press conference, Rodgers spoke about what his role is in the locker room. He mentioned how he will be taking up the role of the leader, being the oldest guy in the locker room. Furthermore. he stressed how these two are interconnected.
Rodgers made it clear that his role as a New York Jet would include getting to know his fellow players better. He reiterated this point and said, “That’s part of the role, leadership part of the world, and being the old guy in the room. I love that and I love getting to know these guys where they’re from and what makes them tick because that’s how you understand how to push those buttons in the right way to inspire guys.”
Furthermore, during the press conference, Rodgers also spoke about how different it was for him to step into the Jets’ locker room with a different number.

The ‘surreal’ feeling of a new beginning
While Rodgers spoke during the press conference, he also mentioned the difference in playing for the Jets as compared to the Packers. Rodgers spoke about the smaller differences that involved his travel to the facility as well as the change in number. He accentuated this and said, “It was surreal for sure, strange to look at my locker and see number eight you know rocking Jets gear. It’s a little bit strange for sure but every day there’s been something that’s kind of a little special sign or synchronicity or just a cool moment that reminds me I’m in the right place.”
