On Wednesday, head coach Robert Saleh revealed that Joe Flacco will start as the leading quarterback for New York Jets against Miami Dolphins. Some fans are confused by the fact that, why is the experienced Flacco starting over the Youngblood Mike White? White’s throwing arm is tired, and he might need to take it easy for a while. With Zach Wilson still in rehab, the Jets cannot afford to lose another quarterback. So they have taken the ultimate decision to start with Joe Flacco.

Zach Wilson is still not 100% yet
After suffering a PCL sprain in his right knee while playing against New England Patriots in week 7, Zach Wilson has been sidelined for the moment. Jets’ rookie quarterback took a hit from the Patriots’ Matthew Judon. Wilson is still under rehab, and it seems like there are no major injuries. He is expecting to return soon, but the Jets aren’t trying to rush it.

After Wilson’s unfortunate injury, Mike White has been starting every single game for New York; however, for the Sunday night affair at MetLife Stadium, the Jets have chosen to start with the veteran Joe Flacco.
The Jets got Flacco from Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2022 sixth-round draft pick last month. If Joe Flacco manages to play at least 50% of the snaps in four games, the pick will become a fifth-rounder.

Mike White waited three years to get his first taste of NFL action. Mike replaced Wilson to finish the week 7 match against the Patriots. He has been the obvious choice for the starting quarterback for the Jets ever since. In week 8, White led the Jets to their second win this season against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was also a part of the loss against the Bills this past Sunday. Overall, it has been a decent few games for the 2018 fifth-round pick. He needs to step down for a while so that he does not exhaust himself.

“Joe’s been there, done that. He’s a steadying experience that we felt would put us in the best position to win. This is why we brought in Joe, for situations like this.” Said Robert Saleh to reporters. Joe Flacco has played with the New York Jets before joining the Eagles. He has years of experience under his belt, and that could be a factor why the Jets head coach Saleh has chosen him to start this Sunday.
