The Baltimore Ravens, even after winning the match against Washington, suffered a heavy loss as their stud running back J.K. Dobbins is believed to have picked up a season ending ACL tear. Although the true extent of his injury can only be declared after the MRI scan.

The injury took place when Dobbins, after receiving a screen pass from Jackson, got sandwiched between the cornerback Jimmy Moreland and linebacker Jordan Kunaszyk. His awkward collision with the two made him feel suspicious about his left knee.

The running back made it to the sideline without putting any weight on his left leg. Later, he was taken to the medics on a cart and was ruled out for the rest of the game. When received in the medical tent, it was reported that his leg was bent backwards.

It is clearly not a good sign for the player and for the team to pick up such an injury before the season even started. Furthermore, with the given accounts of the officials, it can only be said that the season looks over for the young player.

Ravens after the injury

Although the injury took place in the very first quarter of the match, the Ravens went on to win the game by a huge margin. While the fans were waiting for an injury update, the quarterback Huntley demolished the Washington defense and the Ravens won 37-3. Furthermore, their victory set an Unofficial NFL record for winning 20 exhibition games in a row.

Yet the injury is still a question mark on the efforts put by the Ravens during the unimportant preseason match. No matter how impressive that record may seem, the Ravens have now a bigger problem to deal with.

A season without J.K. Dobbins?

Although the rest of the season seems challenging for the Baltimore Ravens, the team seems to be doing well even without the 22-year-old running back.

The Ravens still have Gus Edwards as a replacement RB ready to take over Dobbins’ for the remainder of the season. Along with Gus, Justice Hill, Ty’Son Williams and rookie Nate McCrary, all can get a shot at the position.

Even though the injury seems bad, let’s hope he comes back stronger and sooner. Being a young and talented player, he has a whole career up ahead of him. This injury should be a reminder that key players should be wisely used in preseason matches to reduce the chances of any undesired injury.
